Noale Go club

Noale Go club

Yesterday i went to Noale to play go. When 6 month ago i arrived in venice i knew no one. After a couple of months i contacted marco (third from the left and was invited to join them). The first time was awkward. I lost every game and later we went to eat together. And there i remembered one of the great differences between italians and most of other europeans. Whatever we do, it's often just an excuse for interpersonal relations (friendship). Often in other countries we would play together (or practice tai ji), but after each would go on his own. Instead here Marco and Sandro (second from the left) just greeted me as part of the group. Through them I met many other players. With them I went to the tortellino tournament. And thanks to them i succesfully broke the weekend boredom in a series of interesting games. Marco will tell you in private how he once won a pro player. But somehow he will not repeat it when dan players are around. Sandro will tell you pretty much everything in detail about any possible topic. Hiding behind the low ranking excuse that he does not look at tv. And still you are left wandering why such a great mind plays such a bad go. And what to say of Marco's sister. Who tries to confuse you by smiling while you are thinking... And still manages to loose! Ah! Another great result for the male lib front.
Then Luca (first on the left) and his brother (first on the right) keep marco in check by forcing him to acknowledge that he cannot just bully every go player in the area.

The square where the picture was taken is actually the biggest square in padova, in italy and in europe. Third biggest square in the world after Tiennaman square and god knows what else. Bigger than the red square in Moscow. We received a whole lecture on (and in) it by iknowmorethanyourencyclopedia sandro. Just before learning about the church 'il santo' and after learning on how the international war right gives to an occupying power the right to kill civilians if their soldiers have been killed by people not in uniform. Which itself came after a lesson on the profecy of Malakino. I thought i was going to play go, but i an effectively completing my education.
